ABOUT
Sri Padmavathy Mahila Abhyuda Sangam (SPMS) is the first federation of women Self Help Groups (SHGs) in India formed in April, 1992. With a total of 6300 women, this federation is a self managed community organization working with a focus on promoting social and economic empowerment. Over the last 25 years the organization has expanded its reach to the members of 553 women led SHGs with the primary focus on promoting savings, providing credit and facilitating income generation activities among others.

BUILDING SOCIAL CAPITAL BY PROMOTING SAVINGS
SPMS organises women into SHGs and promotes the habit of regular savings. Over the last three decades these groups emerged as platforms for promoting mutual support, sharing and learning among members for collective action. So far, 533 groups mobilized over INR 16 crores of savings thereby forming capital for internal loaning.
